UBA Launches N150m Super Savers Promo Season 5 - uba super savers promo

United Bank for Africa has launched Season 5 of its Super Savers Promo, a nine-month campaign running from September 2025 to May 2026 that offers customers over N150 million in cash prizes and rewards. The initiative, themed “Season of Progress,” targets approximately 1,500 customers across all Nigerian regions and represents UBA’s most ambitious savings reward program to date.

The timing of the promo coincides with Nigeria’s financial inclusion challenges. Only 52% of Nigerian adults currently have formal bank accounts, representing 110.9 million people, while 102.1 million remain unbanked. Nigeria’s overall financial inclusion rate stands at 64.1%, falling short of the Central Bank of Nigeria’s 80% target for 2020. The economic environment adds urgency: inflation reached historic levels of 33.69% as of April 2024, making structured savings programs more critical than ever.

Low Barrier to Entry

Customers can qualify with as little as N5,000 monthly deposits in UBA Bumper Accounts, while other savings products require N10,000. Dormant account holders can reactivate their accounts with N10,000 deposits to participate in special monthly N35,000 reactivation draws. The full reward structure includes quarterly star prizes of N1 million for 27 winners throughout the campaign period.

Additional prizes range from N500,000 down to N10,000, plus monthly airtime bonuses for hundreds of customers. Young savers aren’t excluded from the initiative: Kiddies, Teens, and NextGen accounts offer prizes up to N200,000 to encourage early financial literacy. The promo’s multiple entry categories are designed to capture different customer segments across the country.

Digital-First Accessibility

UBA has introduced improved accessibility through a new digital onboarding platform, allowing customers to open accounts online in real-time without visiting branches. This digital-first approach aligns with broader industry trends, as physical bank branches witness footfall decline while customers increasingly prefer digital interactions.

The bank has developed its mobile application with an intuitive interface that supports multiple local languages, addressing language barriers that often prevent Nigerians from engaging with banking services. Recognizing that many rural areas experience inconsistent internet connectivity, UBA engineered the platform to function efficiently even on low bandwidth connections, ensuring customers in remote locations can complete account opening without technical difficulties.

The bank aims to leverage this digital infrastructure to directly address the 102.1 million unbanked Nigerians by removing traditional barriers such as extensive documentation requirements and physical branch visits. The streamlined onboarding process allows new customers to activate accounts within minutes using minimal identification, making formal banking accessible to populations previously excluded from the financial system.

The bank’s digital transformation has shown measurable results. UBA achieved a user experience score of 94.4 in digital banking satisfaction surveys, ranking second among Nigerian banks. Recent platform redesigns focused on data-lite modes for budget-conscious users and transparent pricing structures, contributing to a 40% reduction in onboarding drop-offs and sharp engagement increases from low-income users.

UBA’s Group Deputy Managing Director Chukwuma Nweke emphasized the importance of savings in nation-building, stating that the campaign aims to deepen savings culture among Nigerians while promoting financial independence. The approach reflects how promotional campaigns have evolved beyond simple prize distribution into tools for addressing systemic financial exclusion.

Regulatory Oversight and Transparency

All draws will be conducted live with oversight from the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission and Lagos State Lottery and Gaming Authority. This regulatory supervision addresses concerns about promotional scheme transparency, particularly given recent EFCC warnings about fraudulent promo scams targeting Nigerian consumers.

UBA’s Group Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications Alero Ladipo stated that the promo extends beyond prize distribution, representing the bank’s mission to provide innovative solutions and create opportunities for diverse customer bases while helping Nigerians save, grow, and achieve financial goals. Since launching savings promos, the bank has created over 1,500 winners through initiatives designed to reward loyalty while encouraging healthy saving habits.

Last year’s 75th anniversary celebration promo distributed approximately N150 million in prizes, demonstrating the bank’s commitment to customer rewards and financial inclusion advancement. Regional banking penetration data shows significant variations across Nigeria, with Lagos achieving 91% banking penetration while states like Borno record only 13%.
